A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
